How I Permanently Overcame Drugs & Alcohol Abuse and Got Set Free from PTSD
San Diego, California: In 1958 when my Dad at age 45 was violently killed in a single engine airplane crash when I was only 12, my whole world collapsed and I suffered from PTSD in the truest since of the phrase. Our family lost everything including our home, business and a 20 year US Navy Submariner’s pension. As the oldest child, friends of the family told me I was now the man of the house, so I started doing what I thought adults did …work and party! This death tragedy opened the door to the next 14 years of addictions. Starting with cigarettes, cigars and whisky as pain killers, I progressed into a full-on party lifestyle. To kill the pain, I also began surfing at age 12. And what did most surfers do for fun? They chase waves, women and beer. O-did I tell you that I was given a bottle of beer by my Dad’s Navy buddies while I was a baby standing in the backyard outdoor crib? This humorous but foolish adult prank probably fueled my delightful taste for beer at age 2 (see 2 proof photos below).
At age 18 I prided myself on being able to drink most adults under the table. At age 20 I was introduced to marijuana by one of my surf buddies. I resisted and stuck with beer and booze which was totally accepted by my society. At age 22 after a particularly bad breakup with a girlfriend and loads of pain, I sought out my marijuana “friend” and took my first strong hit. Later I included hashish and LSD to further kill the pains of life I was attempting to understand and endure through so called “drug-enlightenment”. I was an expert at hiding my activities and was what some might call a normal functioning addict who could fully carry on the work activities of life including driving an automobile. This experiment and study lasted 4 years. Now I am an expert on the dangers of this so-called harmless recreational drug and how it can foul up people and society. I have seen up close and personal how lives and families can be ruined, sometimes permanently.
On September 13th, 1971 at age 26, God totally set me free from all addictions and from PTSD. Amazingly, God helped me even though I had ignored Him and His rule book, The Holy Bible. I never had one moment of cold-turkey withdrawals. Based on what I have seen others go through my deliverance was absolutely miraculous. For the past 51 years I have been totally sober, clean and have never relapsed even once. Since then I was tempted hundreds and hundreds of times, but I learned how to permanently deal with all addictions and PTSD through God's power and love, and by using Biblical principals as an offensive weapon of defense and how to beat the attacks 100 times of out 100.
Since that deliverance I have dedicated myself to God, to study and education and to many aspects of assisting people with human behavior transformation issues, one of which being drugs & alcohol prevention and rehabilitation and PTSD. With my earned triple-major PhD 120 semester units, triple-majorM.A. 60 units, and triple-major B.S. 120 units in Industrial Organizational & Clinical Psychology; Marketing/Sales & Theology/World Religions from Holy Word Bible School/Bible University, and Bible Theological Seminary and with a transfer minor in Oceanography and Chemistry from Monterey Peninsula College, I have what I believe are unique real-life success qualifications. In addition 4 years were spent in clinical residency helping people through Apostolic Ministries Inc., and The Church of Monterey both in California, and 3 years in special Industrial Organizational Psychology business training in a number of business sectors in the State of California.
I am a personal counselor and management consultant and have been so since 1978. Since 2009 I have been Board Certified by The International Board of Christian Counselors and The Board of Christian Professional and Pastoral Counselors both of Forest Virginia, USA., BCPC#0509: I am also a member of the Healthcare Providers Service Organization, Hatboro, PA #0590302864.
I am also a Non-Denominational Ordained Minister through the State of California, however I am not a Pastor nor do I have a church that I Pastor. As part of my degrees I received a vitally important clergy ordination from a duly recognized Theological Seminary in the State of California in 1978. Since receiving my clergy ordination (I also received a 2nd ordination as a Baptist in 2010), I have done marriage therapy counseling, drug and alcohol prevention and rehab counseling, as well as counseling on a multitude of behavioral issues. I am now the author of 27 published books in multiple foreign languages featured on Amazon dealing with human behavior transformation. According to the State of California Laws and Regulations Relating to the practice of Psychology edition 2016, section 2908 --Exemptions: "Nothing in this chapter shall be construed to prevent duly ordained and recognized clergy members from doing work of a psychology nature consistent with the laws governing their profession."
Looking back, I believe that I have been challenged by just about every human behavior malady and problem known to mankind. By God’s grace I have not only survived but been victorious …and have never personally forgotten where I came from and just what it was like to be absolutely miserable, frustrated and bound up in a dark captivity!
